Wildcats Will Need P Squared's A Game Tonight

Drexel v Kentucky

Patrick Patterson will need to be effective on both the defensive and offensive ends of the court for the Wildcats to pull out a victory in Gainesville tonight. However, it is his experience and leadership that will be most important to keep his less experienced teammates from becoming unnerved due to the wild environment that they will be presented with tonight. If the Wildcats can pull out a victory against Florida, the distance to the Indianapolis exit gets a little shorter - oh yeah, and it will give the Big Blue another reason to party.

Hard to Watch: Wildcats Defeat Georgia 76-68

Shocked couple watching television

In a game which many thought would be a blowout, the Wildcats needed a lot of help from their Cousins to pull out a victory over the Georgia Bulldogs. Additionally, DeAndre Liggins continues to impress and has given some more depth to the UK bench. The Wildcats played horrible at times, but managed to win. Certainly, this proves that the Wildcats will need to bring their best game to the court every night in order to remain undefeated. However, I do not see the Wildcats going undefeated this season. I've always bought into the theory that it's best to get a "wake-up" call during conference play than to go undefeated and get caught "off-guard" in the NCAA tournament.

Florida is up next for the Wildcats on Tuesday night - the Wildcats might just earn their first L. However, given how tight the Georgia game was, I expect the Wildcats to come out pumped up. I'm sure that Coach Cal will use film from yesterday's game to show his young Wildcats what they can't do from here on out if they truly wish to go undefeated this season. Should the Wildcats not come ready to play in Gainesville, the trip back to Lexington could be a rather long one.

Wildcats Win...Rupp is Like Hell?

Hell Is For Losers sign

Louisville guard Edgar Sosa (according to several media outlets) likened the Rupp experience to walking into hell. For me, the only thing hellish about today's game were the referees and the announcers. The anti-UK agenda was in full-court 'press' mode. In addition, when Seth Davis' panties got all wadded up at halftime, you just knew that the drama wasn't anywhere near being over.

In this year's I-64 clash, it is the Wildcats who come away victors, winning 71-62. Wall, Cousins, and Patterson are beasts. It has been a long time since UK has had warriors that simply refuse to back down to anyone (even when the referees spot their opponent a dozen or so points). For the Cardinals and their well-feathered fans, all the smack talk leading up to today's game bought them a lot of crow - happy dining!

Pluck That Bird!

NCAA Elite 8: Michigan State Spartans v Louisville Cardinals

I must say that I believe UK will win easily today. UL has lost some head scratchers this season, and I don't believe that they will get their acts together in time for a win in Rupp Arena today. Bottom line: UK's starting five is light years ahead of the starting five that Louisville will put on the court.
